But I think, it is not so much the problem, that writers of that kind aren't really here any more, but that readers today don't want to read experimental prose as did the readers in the 60s and 70s - whatever the reason for that is - and so they have no chance to get published. There is one exception however: poetry, where you can still find unusual stuf; experimental writing seems to have hidden in that genre to survive.
