Looks like a ton of good reading. Unfortunately, Roy, I am sorely disappointed that you didn't come to me for baseball books to read during Summer, which is, what else, baseball season. Or, for that matter, my omission from this high-falutin'-intellect-flauntin' list entirely. You are a sad excuse for a friend and I may have to track you down and feed you countless beers when I am in Austin in November. Ya JERK!

I'm reading through David Foster Wallace's collections of short stories right now, and they are nothing short of amazing. They're as lucid as any writer could hope to be, yet absolutely chaotic...non-chronological, multi-page footnotes, etc. They're entertaining, informative, and have such gentle mockery and sarcasm, it's sometimes easy to miss in print. He both inspires me to write and makes me feel inadequate as a writer.
